  • How do I rent a book?

    First find the book you want to rent by using the book’s Author, ISBN number or Title in the search textbox on the “Rent a Book” or Home page. Once you find the book you want to rent, select one of the books offers for rent and follow the screen prompts. You can choose to rent a book form someone within 15 miles using Youfari’s Location Based Service or have it shipped.

  • Can I buy books?

    Yes, you can also buy books at Youfari. You first find the book you want to buy by using the book’s Author, ISBN number or Title in the search textbox on the “Rent a Book” or Home page. Once you find the book you want to buy, select one of the books offers for buy and follow the screen prompts. You can choose to buy a book form someone within 15 miles using Youfari’s Location Based Service or have it shipped.

  • What if I lose or damage a book?

    Youfari is a trusted community where renters like you can get the best rental price. One of the ways we ensure this is by providing lenders with a book return gurantee. If you damage or lose a book, your payment account on file will be charged the replacement cost of the book.

  • Can I write or highlight the book I rented?

    We only allow very minimal highlighting. Books that have excessive highlighting are not acceptable and your credit card will be charged a full replacement cost of the book. Youfari motto is an excellent guideline that can help you identify what is acceptable highlighting – “Treat this book as you would like someone else to treat yours.”

  • How do I track my order?

    When the book you have ordered to be delivered via USPS is shipped you receive an email confirmation for the shipment with the USPS tracking number. The USPS tracking number can also be found next to the book you ordered under the “My Account” profile.

  • How do I return the book?

    Prior to the due date of the book you will receive an email requesting you to return the book. There are two ways to return the book:
    For books ordered via Location Based Service: Contact the lender directly for arranging returns. The email address will be available at all time next to the book under you’re My Account section.
    For books ordered via USPS: Go to My Account section and print a free return shipping label for the book you would like to return. You would need to provide your own shipping and packaging material for all returns. Please drop the book at the nearest USPS location.

  • I ordered a book using the location based service, how do I pick up the book I just rented?

    For books ordered within a 15 mile radius using Youfari’s location based service please contact the lender directly to arrange pickup/delivery. Please meet at a safe public place with wifi. You would need to confirm receipt of the book by logging into your Youfari account. Click the confirm button next to the book under the My Account section.

  • Is there a late fee?

    Youfari strives to support the student community. We send two reminders for book returns before the due date. Please realize that the rented book actually belongs to your fellow student, who might need the book back on-time for his own use, or to help someone else. Therefore we charge a late fee if the book is not returned on-time.

  • Do I get a refund for early returns?

    No, there are no refunds or discounts for early returns.

  • Can I extend my book rental?

    Youfari already offers generous rental periods and therefore we DO NOT offer any extensions.

  • How do I add a book for lending?

    First find the book you want to lend by using the book’s Author, ISBN number or Title in the search textbox on the “Lend a Book” or Home page. Once you find the book you want to lend, follow the screen prompts to add your book. Adding a book is free and is available for rent to millions of students across the United States.

  • Can I sell books?

    Yes, you can also list your book for sale at Youfari. First find the book you want to sell by using the book’s Author, ISBN number or Title in the search textbox on the “Lend a Book” or Home page. Once you find the book you want to sell, follow the screen prompts to add your book for sale. Check the checkbox that says “Let other’s also buy this book”. Adding a book is free and is available for sale to millions of students across the United States.

  • Is my book safe and secure?

    The safety and security of your book is our #1 priority. Borrower’s credit card is used to secure your book against loss, damage or excessive highlighting. Youfari guarantees all books against loss and theft. If your book is not returned you are guaranteed to receive the replacement cost of the book.

  • What if my book is damaged or not returned?

  • Can I add multiple books at the same time?

    Currently, you can only add one book at a time. Soon we will be adding functionality that allows you to add multiple books at the same time.

  • How do I package my book for shipment?

    If the book is a priority shipment, print the shipment label and take the book to the nearest post office where you will be provided the shipping envelope. For media mail shipments you provide your own shipping and packaging material. Please search the internet for several innovative ways to package your book for shipment.

  • Can renters write or highlight my book?

    We only allow very minimal highlighting. Books that have excessive highlighting are not acceptable and against Youfari policy.

  • How do I track my shipment?

    The USPS tracking number can also be found next to the book you shipped under the “My Account” profile.

  • How do I deliver the book ordered using Youfari’s “Location based Service”?

    You will receive an email confirmed for books ordered via location based service. In such case please contact the renter directly for arranging returns. The email address will be available at all time next to the book under you’re My Account section. For your own safety please meet at a public place that is wifi enabled. While delivering the book please ensure the renter confirms receipt of the book by logging into Youfari site and clicking the confirm button next to your book under the renter’s My Account section.

  • How do I make my book unavailable for rent or sale?

    You will have to log into Youfari account, click on “My Account”, and then under the “Books I lent” section select Active Inventory. Click on the button next to the book to make it unavailable for rent or sale. At anytime if you wish to make it available again simple go under Passive Inventory and click the button next to the book to make it available for rent again.

  • How do I contact Youfari?

    If you wish to contact Youfari please drop us an email at contact@youfari.com. We will respond to your request and call or email you within 48 hours.

  • What shipping methods are available?

    Book can be shipped via USPS media mail which could take up to 7 days, USPS priority mail for a 2-3 day delivery or in-person using Youfari’s location based service which could be as fast as 1 day delivery.

  • How do I find the rental return/due date?

    You find the due date by logging into Youfari and clicking on “My Account”.

  • What is Youfari Stats?

    It is a snapshot of your current account status - The $$ you have made by lending your books, and the $$ you have saved by renting books.

  • What is Youfari Credit?

    Youfari credit is the credit you receive by referring others to lend or rent books at Youfari. Youfari credit can only be used towards renting your own books at Youfari.

  • What is Youfari Bucks?

    Youfari Bucks is the money you have made by lending or selling books at Youfari. This can money can be remitted any time to your PayPal account. Please note PayPal might charge your account a transaction cost for this transfer.

  • How do I remit money that I make lending or selling books

  • What is Passive Inventory

    When a renter orders a book from you, and you fail to ship or deliver it to the renter, the book is moved under “Passive Inventory”. This means that the book will not be visible to others searching for this book. You will have to log into Youfari and manually make it active again by visiting the “Passive Inventory” section under your “My Account” profile.

  • What is location based service?

    Youfari provides a way to search for books with-in a few miles of your location. This way you can meet the lender and pick-up the book in-person. It is a great way to meet people and save money at the same time. It is important you meet at a WIFI enabled public location since the renters needs to confirm receipt by visiting Youfari during the delivery of book.

  • What are the some safe location to exchange books using location based service?

    Only meet at WIFI enabled public places. Public places such as student unions, dining halls, libraries and coffee shops are a great safe place to meet and exchange books that are WIFI enabled.
